First Win for $2.8Million Sale-Topper

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday October 27

The top lot at the 2019 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale when sold for $2.8million, Snitzel colt Mount Fuji headed to a new home in Queensland after being sold in the 2021 Inglis Digital August (Early) Sale for $75,000 and on Wednesday he opened his account for his new connections at Ipswich.

Bought as a yearling by respected bloodstock agent James Harron and raced by a big syndicate of investors, Mount Fuji failed to deliver on the early potential he showed with a wind issue not helping his cause.

Mount Fuji sold for $2.8million as a yearling.

He failed to win in four starts for Peter and Paul Snowden, so was sold on and was having his second run for Gillian Heinrich in the 1200m maiden after finishing second for his new trainer earlier this month.

Mount Fuji settled off the pace and found the line well to win by a length and three-quarters.

Mount Fuji was bred and offered for sale by Corumbene Stud and is the second winner from Group II winning General Nediym mare Ichihara, a sister to stakes-winners Au Chocolat and Isurava, the dam of Group II winner Menari.

Ichihara has a yearling colt by Sntizel and has foaled this spring producing a colt by Exceed and Excel.
