Smart South African Winner for Maurice

Tara Madgwick - Saturday October 23

Arrowfield stud shuttler Maurice (Jpn) had his first Australian stakes-winner on Saturday in Mazu and also has a bright prospect in South Africa with three year-old filly Whoa Whoa Whoa scoring her second win at Kenilworth.

Trained by Brett Crawford for Ridgemont Stud, Whoa Whoa Whoa was favourite for the 1200m fillies and mares event and ran out an easy two and a quarter length winner keeping her record perfect at two for two.

A homebred for Ridgemont, Whoa Whoa Whoa is the second foal and second winner for stakes-winning Fast ‘n’ Famous mare What’s New Pussycat (NZ), a half-sister to stakes-winner Seaway.

What’s New Pussycat (NZ) was exported from Australia in 2019.

Whoa Whoa Whoa is the only runner so far for Maurice in South Africa.
