Juvenile Trial Watch – Hawkesbury

Tara Madgwick - Monday October 18

There were three heats for juveniles at Hawkesbury on Tuesday and one of the winners was trained by Greg Hickman, who bought a number of expensive yearlings at the sales this year.

A three-quarter brother-in-blood to Golden Slipper winner Capitalist, Written Tycoon colt Among Us showed good improvement from his first trial to his second.

At Warwick Farm on October 5 he missed the start hopelessly and trailed in last in his first attempt at a trial, but this time around with Tommy Berry in the saddle was far more awake to the task.

He jumped smoothly from the gates to lead all the way in his 800m heat winning by the best part pof a length.

A $350,000 Magic Millions purchase for his trainer from the Parsons Creek draft, Among Us is the first foal of unraced Smart Missile mare Ineffable, a half-sister to Champion 2YO Capitalist, who is by Among Us’s sire Written Tycoon.

Other 2YO heat winners were by Capitalist and Sooboog.
