New French Stakes-Winner for Toronado

Tara Madgwick - Sunday October 17

On a weekend when his star sprinting son Masked Crusader went very close to winning the $15m The Everest, High Chaparral’s top class sire son Toronado (IRE) also added a new stakes-winner to his tally in France.

Progressive four year-old gelding Bois D’Argent charged home out wide to score a short head win in the Listed Prix du Ranelagh (1600m), his fourth win from nine starts.

Trained by Francis-Henri Graffard, Bois D’Argent has been super consistent and has placed in his other five starts.

Bois d’Argent is a half-brother to this year-s Group I winner Grand Glory and is one of four winners from placed Daylami mare Madonna Lilly, who comes from the family of Australian Group I VRC Oaks winners Arapaho Miss and Miami Bound.

Bois d’Argent is the 18th stakes-winner for Toronado, who shuttles to Swettenham Stud and is covering  a full book this spring at a fee of $49,500.
