Juvenile Trial Watch—Warwick Farm

Tara Madgwick - Friday October 15

Just two heats for juveniles at the Warwick Farm trials on Friday morning with wins for a filly by Arrowfield Stud’s first season sire Pariah and Godolphin colt Contemporary, who has already raced finishing second to Cavalla in the Darley Spring Preview at Flemington.

The Gary Portelli trained filly Belriah had the benefit of jumping from gate one and enjoyed a smooth run on the fence for Robbie Dolan to win the 740m scamper by two lengths.

It was her second trial and she looks well educated to go to the races.

Belriah is a half-sister to two winners from Group II placed Belsenica, a half-sister to stakes-winner Bel Thor.

The James Cummings trained Exceed and Excel colt Contemporary did everything right, jumping well and travelling on the bit all the way outside horses before cruising to the line to win by a neck for Tommy Berry under restraint.

Contemporary is a full brother to a winner in the UK and is the second foal to race for Memorial, a Group II placed half-sister by Street Cry (IRE) to Group I winner Impending and to the dam of Group I winner Lyre.
