Victorian Trainers Lead the Australian Charge at Tattersalls

Mark Smith - Thursday October 14

Victoria-based trainers Ciaron Maher, Archie Alexander and Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young led the Australian charge of the third and final session of a record-breaking Book 2 of the Tattersall October Yearling Sale.

Ciaron Maher teamed up with Kern/Lillingston Association and John Foote Bloodstock to purchase Knockainey Stud’s Lope de Vega (IRE) colt for 100,000gns.

A half-brother to the stakes-winning hurdler Metier, this colt is out of the stakes-placed Authorized mare We’ll Go Walking.

Granddam Senora Galilei is a sister to Teofilo (IRE) from the family of the Japan-bound Poetic Flare.

Busuttin Racing, in association with First Light Racing and Howson & Houldsworth, signed for an 85,000gns daughter of Siyouni.

First Light Racing enjoyed stakes success with the Siyouni filly See You In Spring who captured the Listed SAJC Without Fear Stakes for Busuttin and Young back in May at just her second start.

Consigned by Barton Stud, the filly is the first foal of the French-bred Redoute’s Choice mare Wynola who placed in four of her five starts at three including races at Chantilly and Deauville.

Wynoloa’s dam Indiana Wells (Sadler’s Wells) is a half-sister to Group 1 Prix Jean Prat winner Turtle Bowl.

McKeever Bloodstock and Alexander Racing went to 45,000gns for Hillwood Stud’s daughter of Epsom Derby winner Australia.

You would have to think that there is plenty of residual value here as the filly is out of a stakes-placed sister to top-class racehorse and sire Showcasing and a half-sister to stakes-winner and proven stallion Camacho.

Some Australian interest under the stakes-winning granddam Arabesque who is a half-sister to Chris Waller’s triple Group 1 winner and $2million earner Foreteller (GB).
