One to Watch - Cranbourne

Tara Madgwick - Friday October 8

A half-sister to Group I VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes winner Septmeber Run by American Pharoah (USA), this debut winner at Cranbourne on Friday evening was an easy pick as the ‘One to Watch’.

Trained by John Salanitri and ridden by Dean Holland, My Yankee Girl came from off the pace to score a fast finishing three-quarter length win over hot favourite Dollar Chaser in the 1000m maiden.

A $100,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Coolmore draft for Hirsch Racing, My Yankee Girl looks to have been very well bought and looms as a great investment for Eddie Hirsch being the second foal and second winner from Group III winning Street Cry (IRE) mare Pittsburgh Flyer.

My Yankee Girl as a yearling.

My Yankee Girl was bred by Go Bloodstock as they purchased her dam Pittsburgh Flyer for $500,000 at the 2108 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale when she was in foal to American Pharoah.

She has a yearling filly to follow by Merchant Navy and has foaled this spring producing a colt by Exceed and Excel.

My Yankee Girl’s sire American Pharoah has one of the leading contenders for the Group I ATC Spring Champion Stakes in Head of State, a last start winner of the Group III ATC Gloaming Stakes.

American Pharoah has already sired Group I winners in North America, Japan and France, the Triple Crown winner back at Coolmore this spring at a fee of $49,500.
