Juvenile Trial Watch – Randwick

Tara Madgwick - Friday October 8

Four interesting heats for two year-olds at Randwick on Friday morning and two of them were won by the progeny of first season sires Russian Revolution and Hellbent.

The winner Let’s Roll produced a typical Gai and Adrian trial leading all the way to win by a head. The Segenhoe Stud bred and sold Shalaa (IRE) colt is from Group III placed Fastnet Rock mare Miss Foxwood, a three-quarter sister to Group III winner Rockwood from dual Group I winner Foxwood.

Another heat winner that led all the way and won by a length held together with Secret Revolution doing everything right to no doubt please his trainers Peter and Paul Snowden.

The Widden stud bred and sold colt is the first trial winner for Newgate Farm’s young Snitzel son Russian Revolution, who was also trained by the Snowden’s. Secret Revolution is the first foal of stakes-winning Denman mare Secret Trail.

The first two fillies here Miss Hellfire and The Seven Seas had a margin on their peers and both went terrific. The winner Miss Hellfire is trained by Peter and Paul Snowden and was a modest Magic Millions purchase for Triple Crown Syndications.

The Newgate bred filly is a half-sister to ill-fated stakes-winner Xtreme Time and US Group I placed colt Caracaro so she’s bred to be good and is a first trial winner for Yarraman Park’s I Am Invincible son Hellbent.

Runner-up The Seven Seas is a half-sister to Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Away Game and looks another early comer for Merchant Navy. She runs in the colours of Seymour Bloodstock, who were in the ownership of her sire.

The quickest of the four heats was won by the Bjorn Baker trained filly Ginger’s Gal, who jumped fast from an outside gate to cruise along near the lead albeit three wide and kept going to the line to win by half a length.

Bred and sold by Yulong, Ginger’s Gal is a half-sister to Group III winner Irukandji and her Group II placed dam Cerberus Gal has had five to race all winners with this daughter of Exceed and Excel likely to be her sixth.
