True Professionals

A brand new five star stallion barn and the support of leading breeders ensures these two stallions are getting every opportunity this spring.

True professionals - Farnan and Prague.

Respected thoroughbred nursery Kia Ora Stud took the bold step to stand stallions at their beautifully appointed Hunter Valley farm this spring and a month into the breeding season both Farnan and Prague are working through their books like true professionals.

“Kia Ora are supporting both stallions with our own quality mares, but it’s been really pleasing to find so many outside breeders are keen to come on board,” said Bloodstock and Breeding Manager, Shane Wright.

“We have five-star facilities here and in Golden Slipper winner Farnan and blue-blood Redoute’s Choice son Prague, we have two stallions that we believe can really make their mark and take Kia Ora forward with a new era of success.”

As a Champion 2YO by proven sire of sires Not a Single Doubt from a daughter of champion sire Street Cry (IRE), Farnan has a heady mix of Group I performance and Group I pedigree that is proving irresistible to breeders.

Farnan stands at a fee of $55,000 , click for more information.

“He’s been super popular and will cover a large book of mares,” said Wright.

“He has let down into a magnificent individual and has a great temperament and excellent fertility making him the ideal stallion to work with.”

Farnan will cover a star-studded book that includes the following mares, several who have already tested in foal:

US G2 winner Gypsy Robin (USA), dam of this season’s G1 winner Wild Ruler
G1 ATC Galaxy winner I Am Excited

A $1.6million Magic Millions yearling that proved a fast and precocious two year-old winning the Group III ATC Pago Pago Stakes (1200m) and Group III ATC Canonbury Stakes (1100m), Prague has all the right attributes for success.

Prague stands at a fee of $16,500, click for more information.

“He will cover a good book of mares, but was probably more disadvantaged by the restrictions imposed by Covid as he’s in a competitive price bracket and his impressive physical presence is hard to really appreciate unless you see him first hand,” said Wright.

Stamped very much in the image of his legendary sire Redoute’s Choice, Prague has many quality mares booked to him including the following with several of them already in foal:

G1 winner Dorabella, dam of G3 placed Coral Coast
US G1 winner Mani Bhavan (USA), dam of SP Petrelle
