Two year-old stakes racing continues at Caulfield on Saturday with the Listed MRC Debutant Stakes (1000m) for colts and fillies with the race to feature a $1million colt by Zoustar.

A field of 12 have accepted with the number 1 saddlecloth to be carried by the Peter Moody trained Brereton, who is an early favoutie with TAB and also the most expensive runner in the race.

Brereton (2c Zoustar x Fuddle Dee Duddle)

A $1million Magic Millions purchase from the Widden Stud draft for Victorian Alliance/Suman Hedge B'Stock (FBAA)/David Redvers Bloodstock, he is from Group III winner Fuddle Dee Duddle, a half-sister to Group II winner Hallowell Belle and to the dam of Group III winner Bella Nipotina.

The second most expensive runner is the Mick Price and Mick Kent Jr trained I Am Invincible colt Immortality, a $400,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Glenlogan Park draft.

Immortality (2c I Am Invincible x Hijack Hussy)

He is the second foal of stakes-winning Hussonet (USA) mare Hijack Hussy, who comes from the family of Group I winners Masked Party, Dracula, Inspiration, Wandjina and Complacent.

The colts will all have to get past the proven performer in Cavalla, the Nicconi filly who won the Darley Spring Preview at Flemington on September 22.

Darley based Impending is the only first season sire represented with his hopes resting with the Grahame Begg trained filly Impel.

Begg has had a happy knack in recent years of buying modestly priced fillies that have been up and running early such as Mildred and Dosh, so Impel fits that profile and is well worth a look.

Impel (2f Impending x Exotic)

She was a $75,000 Inglis Classic purchase from the Newhaven Park draft and is from Mossman mare Exotic, a daughter of stakes-winning juvenile and Blue Diamond runner-up La Lagune, the family also producing Group I winner Hasahalo and Group winners All Saints’ Eve, All Hallows’ Eve, Savvy Nature and Addictive Nature.
