Some Aussie Action at Tattersalls

Mark Smith - Tuesday October 5

Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr were on the board early on day one of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale when they teamed up with Dermot Farrington to purchase a son Frankel.

Consigned by Highclere Stud, the colt was a 110,000gns purchase. (Lot 6)

He is the sixth foal of the Exceed And Excel mare Eminently a winner at Haydock from four starts.

Eminently is a half-sister to Group 1 Haydock Sprint Cup, York Nunthorpe Stakes winner Reverence (Mark Of Esteem), and Listed winner Helm Bank (Wild Again).

With just one winner from two runners to make the track to date, Eminently has not set the world on fire, as is reflected in this colt's brother making 650,000gns here three years ago.

Bjorn Baker, along with Clarke Bloodstock and Avenue Bloodstock, signed for $105,000 son of Australia.

Consigned by Barouche Stud, the colt is the second foal of the royally-related Lawman mare For Now. (Lot 33)

The unraced For Now is a half-sister to the stakes-winners Freedom's Light (Galileo), Oh Beautiful (Galileo) and Face The Facts (Nathaniel).

Granddam Aricia (Nashwan) is a half-sister to the hugely influential broodmare Cassandro Go, the underrated sire Verglas and the stakes-winner Persian Secret, the third dam of Melbourne Cup hero Cross Counter.

Everyone takes notice when John Foote appears on the buyers list.

In association with Kern/Lillingston Association, Foote purchased a filly by Enable's sire Nathaniel for 78,000gns. (Lot 120)

Consigned by Kilminfoyle House Stud, the filly is a half-sister to Group II Lonsdale Cup winner Montaly (Yeats) out of the stakes-placed Spectrum mare Le Badie.

The dam is a half-sister to Woodcote Stakes winner Lady Angharad (Tenby), the dam of Group II winner, and Group 1 placed Barefoot Lady.

Mick Kinane was in action for the Hong Kong Jockey Club.

He signed for a 475,000gns No Nay Never colt out of the Group 1 winner out of the Group 1 winning Fastnet Rock mare Laganore and a $200,000gns son of Zoustar out of the stakes-placed Invincible Spirit mare Herecomesthesun.
