Another Winner for Bargain Sire

Tara Madgwick - Monday October 4

Cox Plate winner Adelaide (IRE) might be the least expensive sire on the power packed Coolmore roster, but he still keeps delivering winners with handy stayer Torrens saluting at Warwick Farm on Monday.

The Lauri Parker trained stallion bolted in at Randwick in August before finishing out of the placings in his next two starts in Group III staying events won by Entente and Great House.

Dropped back to Benchmark 72 grade over 2110m, he quickly recaptured top form lugging 60.5kg to  score an easy two length win under Jenny Duggan.

Torrens was retained to race by his breeder and has won seven races and placed three times from 24 starts earning over $258,000 in prizemoney.

Torrens is the best of three winners from winning dangerous mare A Little Knowledge, who comes from the family of Group I winner Select Prince.

Torrens has been a good money earner for his sire Adelaide, who is best known as the sire of Group I winning mare Funstar, who sold as a broodmare prospect this year for $2.7 million.

Adelaide is a Premium stallion, click for more information.

By legendary sire Galileo, Adelaide is a value option on the Coolmore roster priced at just $5,500 this spring.
