Third Stakes-Winner for Churchill

Tara Madgwick - Friday October 1

Galileo’s champion son Churchill (IRE) featured overnight with a new stakes-winner after talented colt Snaffles captured the Listed Star Appeal Stakes (7f) at Dundalk.

Trained by Joseph O’Brien and ridden by Shane Crosse, Snaffles was coming off an impressive maiden win at his second start and took another step forward with a stylish here-quarter length victory.

“Snaffles is the most laid-back horse you'll ever get. I think there is so much improvement. He's a tall, sparely made horse but a good-looking horse and I think he has a very bright future,” said - Brendan Powell, assistant trainer.

“They've all come to him today and Shane said he's just doing enough in front because he's having a look at the stands' and the whole lot. He's very genuine, will stay a mile very well and could stay further as he's so laid-back.”

Raced by Demi O’Byrne, Snaffles is a half-brother to Group II winner Libranno and two more Group placed horses being the fifth winner from good producing Singspiel mare Annabelle Ja.

Snaffles is the third stakes-winner for Churchill joining Ladies Church and Vadeni.

Churchill (IRE) is a Premium stallion, click for more information.

The champion son of Galileo will have his first Australian runners this season and stands at Coolmore this spring at a fee of $22,000.
