One to Watch – Echuca

Stakes-placed in two of his first three starts, this Extreme Choice colt always looked a good thing in a maiden race at Echuca on a Friday and he won exactly as you would have hoped to see.

Trained by Mick Price and Mick Kent Jr, Extreme Warrior was last seen finishing fifth in the Group III MRC Blue Diamond Prelude when stewards reported he pulled up with respiratory issues.

Extreme Warrior underwent some minor wind surgery during his spell and returned in great style to clear out and win the 1100m maiden by more than four lengths.
 



Co-trainer Mick Price revealed he had initially entered the horse in the Group II VRC Danehill Stakes this Saturday, but decided on the easier target to ensure his promising charge returned with a win.

“He’s a nice colt and a sharp colt and we’re in the middle of the spring so we might take a chance on the Blue Sapphire Stakes and work it out from there,” said Price.

A $160,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Glenlogan Park draft for Mick Price Racing/Dermot Farrington, Extreme Warrior is a half-brother to stakes-winner Thrillster and stakes-placed Free Thrills being the third winner from good producer Heart of Thrills.

A three-quarter sister-in-blood to Group III winner Gotta Have Heart and stakes-winner Crossyourheart, Heart of Thrills is also the dam of a two year-old I Am Invincible filly that sold for $1.2million at Inglis Easter this year when bought by Rosemont Stud, who also share in the ownership of Extreme Warrior.

Heart of Thrills has foaled this spring producing a colt by Written Tycoon.
