Strong Orby Sales for Saxon Warrior and Churchill

The two day Goffs Orby Yearling Sale in Ireland this week produced strong results for Coolmore young guns Saxon Warrior (Jpn) and Churchill (IRE), both standing in the Hunter Valley this spring.

Top selling Saxon Warrior colt from blue hen Cassandra Go.

The first yearlings by Deep Impact’s dual Group I winning son Saxon Warrior were well received with his top seller a colt from Cassandra Go that made €540,000  (A$870,128) for Ballyhimkin Stud when bought by BBA Ireland.

The colt comes with a big pedigree being from Group II winning blue hen Cassandra Go, who has left 10 winners from 12 runners highlighted by triple Group I winner Halfway to Heaven, the dam of multiple Group I winning champion mares Magical and Rhododendron.
 



Other big sales for Saxon Warrior were a colt from Group I winner Gilt Edge Girl that made €270,000 to the bid of MV Magnier and a half-sister to stakes-winner Royal Commando from Online Alexander that made €200,000 when secured by Daithi Havey/Highland Yard.

Saxon Warrior will have yearlings at Australian sales in 2022 and stands this season at the bargain fee of $13,750.

Churchill already has two year-olds running in Europe and his second crop of yearlings proved popular with his best result the half-brother to this season’s Group II winning juvenile filly Agartha selling for €360,000 (A$580,085)  to US bloodstock agent Justin Casse.

The colt is from stakes-winning Dylan Thomas mare Arya Tara, who comes from the family of Champion Australian 3YO The Autumn Sun.

Other good sales for Churchill were a colt from Promise Me that made €190,000 to the bid of Richard Knight/Sean Quinn and a filly from Tarbela that made €160,000 when bought by Rockfield Farm.

The first Australian bred runners for Churchill are racing this season and the champion son of Galileo stands at a fee of $22,000.
