First Season Sires Well Represented on Saturday

Black Type racing for two year-olds gets going this Saturday with the Group III ATC Breeders Plate and Gimcrack Stakes at Randwick and the Listed VRC Maribyrnong Trial at Flemington with the QTIS 2YO Plate at Doomben also adding plenty of interest.

Aquis Farm’s Spieth has been a sensation at the barrier trials with three heat winners, but the acid test will arrive on race day with Wild Botanica and Victory Moments set to race in Sydney, while Acotango, who was fourth in his barrier trial, lines up at Doomben.

Also contesting the Doomben race are two sons of Raheen Stud’s Heroic Valour in Heroic Son and Mishani Persuasion as well as a youngster by another of the young Aquis Farm sires in The Mission.

Coolmore’s Merchant Navy has Drisana and Calico Jack running in Sydney, the former very impressive winning her heat and looks ideally drawn in gate four for her debut.

Flemington will see youngsters step out by Churchill (IRE) (Coolmore), Impending (Darley) and Menari (Newgate), who already has a winner on the board with Menari Magic winning the $75,000 Pat O’Shea Plate at Toowoomba.
