More Exciting Prospects for Turn Me Loose

The exciting progeny of champion galloper Turn Me Loose (Iffraaj) continue to impress on the racetracks of Australasia, last Saturday being no exception when he sired two very smart horses on debut.

Firstly, his 2YO filly Wessex  (ex Trepidation) was super impressive when putting away a small but quality field of 2YO’s at Matamata. A $150,000 Karaka 2021 Book 1 purchase from the draft of Windsor Park Stud, Wessex was purchased by Andrew Forsman on behalf of Ben Kwok. She missed the kick and though unsuited in the testing ground, recovered from last position to work through the field in the home straight and prove too strong for her opposition.

She is held in high regard by her champion trainers and looks a high-class filly in the making.

“We’ve liked her since she first came into work and she was good winning her first trial before having another educational trial”,” Forsman said.

“Ben had asked me to buy a couple of fillies for him at the sale and this was one I really liked.

“She is by Turn Me Loose, who we trained to win the Gr.1 Emirates Stakes and Gr.1 Futurity Stakes in Melbourne and who I have a lot of time for as a sire.
 
“She is a lovely, athletic type with plenty of scope and she’ll have a wee break now before coming back into work to be aimed at the better two-year-old races later in the season.”
 
Across the Tasman, Turn Me Loose’s first-crop son Prix De Turn (ex Prix Du Sang) announced himself as a 3YO of some promise when flashing home for an impressive second placing against a competitive field at his first start.
 
Racing against experienced city-winning horses, Prix De Turn showed a great turn of foot and is an exciting prospect for trainer Matthew Brown who purchased him for $47,500 from Ohukia Lodge’s 2020 Inglis RTR draft. The highly regarded Windsor Park-bred colt holds a nomination for the Gr.1 Caufield Guineas in 2 weeks’ time.
 
A sister to Prix De Turn will be offered as Lot 251 on the second day of the 2021 New Zealand Bloodstock Ready To Run sale at Karaka in November.
