Yulong Secure Wild Ruler for Everest

Media Release - Saturday September 25

Yulong Investments is excited to announce that Group 1-winning sprinter Wild Ruler will run in its 2021 slot for The Everest.

Wild Ruler has shown his exceptional form this spring, with his most recent performance a superb victory in the G1 Moir Stakes at Moonee Valley on Friday evening. The Snitzel 4-year-old is raced by Newgate Farm, China Horse Club and partners, which also includes major Kentucky stud WinStar Farm.

“We are delighted to have Wild Ruler running in our slot in next month’s The Everest,” said Yulong Operations Manager Sam Fairgray.

“He’s already shown his exceptional speed against some of Australia’s best sprinters and is racing in top form, so we’re confident he will provide an excellent chance for us in the race.”

Yulong won the 2018 running of The Everest with Rezdel delivering the second of his three victories when lining up in the Mr Zhang-owned slot. Wild Ruler will be the first runner in The Everest for Newgate Farm, China Horse Club and its racing partners.

“The Everest day in 2018 provided one of the greatest racing highlights for Mr Zhang, his family and the entire Yulong team when Redzel took out the race,” recalled Fairgray. “We are excited to share the experience this year with our good friends who own Wild Ruler.”

Newgate Farm Managing Director Henry Field expressed his delight at Wild Ruler gaining a place to run in the prestigious sprint.

“Newgate, China Horse Club and all our partners are very excited, as we believe Wild Ruler has a top chance to take out the race,” said Field.

“The ownership group and Yulong have a terrific relationship, we share a lot of synergies with what we’re trying to achieve in the racing and bloodstock world so it is is great to share this experience as partners,” said Field.

Despite not being a Group 1 race in status, The Everest has been the world’s highest-rated sprint for every running since its inception, so a victory would be an excellent further endorsement for Wild Ruler’s stallion career.

“Wild Ruler was named by Sir Owen Glenn who has a burning desire to win The Everest, so hopefully 2021 is the year to achieve it!”
