Deep Field Winner in South Africa

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday September 21

A homebred for Shadwell, four year-old Deep Field gelding Al Muthana was an easy winner at Vaal in South Africa on Tuesday.

Trained by Mike de Kock for Shadwell, he won a graduation plate over 1400m as a hot favourite by four and three-quarter lengths and has now won two of six starts.

A homebred for Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum, that was foaled and raised at Yarraman Park, Al Muthana is a half-brother to Group II winner Wawail being one of five winners from six to race from Group II winning Redoute’s Choice mare El Daana.

A $900,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Shadwell back in 2006, El Daana has a yearling filly by Lonhro and is in foal to Too Darn Hot (GB).

El Daana was sold this year for $120,000, click to see her page.

El Daana was sold as part of the Shadwell Dispersal at Magic Millions National Sale this year fetching $120,000 to the bid of Paul Willetts Bloodstock.
