Bella Wins G3 How Now Stakes

Tara Madgwick - Saturday September 18

Pride of Dubai’s brilliant daughter Bella Nipotina is yet to miss a place in her current campaign and scored her biggest win to date when zooming to the line to win the Group III MRC How Now Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on Saturday.

Trained by Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, Bella Niptotina was luckless at her previous run when second in a Listed race at Moonee Valley, but made amends with this fast finishing victory.

Craig Williams steered the race favourite into clear running with just enough time and she powered home to win by three-quarters of a length taking her overall record to three wins and 10 placings from 21 starts with prizemoney topping $1.1million.

An $80,000 Inglis Premier purchase for Lindsay Park Racing / Andrew Williams Bloodstock / Mt Hallowell Stud from the Rosemont stud draft, Bella Nipotina was bred by Michael Christian and partners at Longwood Thoroughbred Farm and they retain a share in her ownership.

She is the first foal of Bella Orfana, a placed sibling by Star Witness to Group winners Hallowell Belle and Fuddle Dee Duddle from the family of Group I Caulfield Guineas winner In Top Swing.

Bella Orfana has a two year-old Capitalist filly that was passed in at the sales and yearling colt by Trapeze Artist.

Bella Nipotina has been a great flagbearer for Pride of Dubai, who stands at Coolmore this spring at a fee of $22,000.
