Russian Revolution Colt Breezes Fastest at Inglis Seymour Gallops

Media Release - Monday September 13

Video footage of Friday’s Seymour breeze ups – a key lead-up to next month’s Inglis Ready2Race Sale – is now available for viewing on the Inglis website.

In a sign of how strong the Ready2Race catalogue is, 42 of the 57 2YOs to breeze at Seymour ran 11 seconds or faster for their 200m gallop.

The fastest was a Russian Revolution x Fiery Jest colt (lot 167), which clocked an impressive 10.22 seconds.

Russian Revolution colt from Fiery Jest breezed in 10.22 seconds.

Purchased by Upper Bloodstock for $120,000 at this year’s Premier Yearling Sale at Oaklands from Longwood Thoroughbred Farm, the colt will be presented at the Ready2Race Sale by Valiant Stud.

Valiant’s Fergal Connolly described the colt as “an utter professional’’.

“In absolutely everything he does, he’s just so mature and professional. He has a lot of precocity and looks an early-running type,’’ Connolly said.

“I obviously wasn’t there at Seymour due to the borders etc but Mitch Aitken rode him and he was really impressed with his time and his action. He’s a serious colt that we’ve got a lot of time for.’’

The second-fastest breeze was from lot 136, an Invader x Carlton Show colt of Moffatt Breaking and Pre Training.

He stopped the clock at 10.37secs and was one of five 2YOs of Moffatt’s to breeze at the session. All five clocked sub 11 seconds.

“The day was perfect overall really, all of ours went really well and we couldn’t be happier.’’ Peter Moffatt said.

“The Invader, we bought him in Melbourne, got him home, broke him in and he was an exceptional horse to break in, he had a really good attitude and is one of those horses who is just really enjoyable to be around.

“You never get your hopes up too much but he was certainly impressive in the breeze. The whole way along, he’s been a pleasure to deal with, easy to ride, has a great constitution and I’ve always liked the way he travels across the ground, so bring on the sale.’’

Breeze up action continues this week at Eagle Farm on Wednesday and Hawkesbury Friday, before attention heads to New Zealand for Monday’s Cambridge session. The 185-strong Inglis Ready2Race catalogue is arguably the strongest breeze up catalogue ever assembled in Australia.

The best and most in-demand sires all have progeny at the sale including the likes of I Am Invincible, Snitzel, Exceed And Excel, Capitalist, Fastnet Rock, Pierro, Written Tycoon, Zoustar, Street Boss, Medaglia d’Oro, More Than Ready, Lonhro, Sebring, Deep Field, Savabeel, Tavistock, Toronado, Flying Artie, Frosted and Ocean Park etc.

Buyers will also see the first 2YOs by a popular crop of stallions such as Russian Revolution, Merchant Navy, Almanzor, Hellbent, Invader, Pariah, Highland Reel, Caravaggio, Churchill and Impending.

To have arguably the best 2YO catalogue ever put together is a significant feat, given recent graduates of the sale include dual G1 winner Nettoyer, G2 winners Allibor and Lightsaber, multiple Stakes winner Trumbull, reigning Victoria Derby third favourite Forgot You, high-class HK sprinter Wishful Thinker, Singapore star Starlight as well as prominent local Stakes sprinters such as Malkovich, See You In Spring etc.

The Inglis Ready2Race Sale has asserted itself as the marketplace’s No.1 2YO auction, with over 400 individual winning graduates since 2015 for almost $60m in graduate earnings.

Interestingly, the average earnings per runner of an Inglis 2YO graduate is 30% higher than graduates of the nearest Australian competitor’s sale.

The auction has produced recent Stakes winners in Australia, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Singapore and Macau as well as winners in South Africa, China, Korea, Philippines and Malaysia.
