Blueblood Breaks Maiden

Arrowfield Stud’s blue hen The Broken Shore posted her fourth winner from four to race at Lismore on Thursday when four year-old Medaglia D’Oro (USA) gelding Rapids added another chapter to Inglis Digital success stories.

A half-brother to triple Group I winner Shoals and stakes-winner Groundswell, Rapids was withdrawn from Inglis Easter and retained to race by his breeders.

He was sent to Chris Waller, but after six starts in metro class maidens yielded just one second and a third, Rapids was consigned to the 2021 Inglis Digital April (Late) Sale where he was sold for $35,000 and joined the Coffs Harbour stable of Donna Grisedale.

Rapids had his first run for new connections in the 1100m maiden on Thursday and surged clear to win by a length and a half as favourite.

A half-sister by Hussonet (USA) to Group I winners Redoute’s Choice, Manhattan Rain and Platinum Scissors, The Broken Shore has now had four winners from her first four foals with unraced three year-old Fastnet Rock filly Fjord in the pipeline.

The Broken Shore was covered by Written Tycoon last year after losing a colt by I Am Invincible.
