Vancouver 3YO Aims Up at Black Type

Tara Madgwick - Sunday September 5

Vancouver has made a strong start to the new season with eight winners on the board already including exciting prospect Mynumerouno, who stamped his credentials for better races when scoring a strong win in the $150,000 open three year-old handicap over 1000m at Moonee Valley on Saturday.

Trained by Nick Ryan and ridden by Rhys McLeod, Mynumerouno came with a well timed run to post a half neck win over Godolphin runner Athelric.

"He's always shown a lot and I think he's still got a bit to learn but he's an exciting young horse,” said Nick Ryan.

"I think we'll keep him to the shorts (distances). He's pretty sharp. We might look to something like the Blue Sapphire next and then if he happens to win or run well again then we can throw him in the Coolmore and see how he goes up the straight.

"He's only a little horse but he's got a big stride and he's got a good turn-of-foot. It was a great ride, too, from Rhys McLeod.”

Retained to race by his breeders, Mynumerouno has three wins and a third from four starts with prizemoney just shy of $170,000.

He is the second winner from Dash for Cash mare Splash of Moet, a four time metro winning grand-daughter of stakes-winner Stormy Dawn.

A Golden Slipper winning son of Medaglia D'Oro (USA), Vancouver stands at Coolmore at a fee of $22,000.
