Think it Over Wins G2 Chelmsford Stakes

Tara Madgwick - Saturday September 4

Winner of the Group I ATC George Ryder Stakes (1500m) during the autumn, top class weight-for-age performer Think It Over showed his class when scoring a determined win in the Group II ATC Chelmsford Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on Saturday.

Trained at Kembla by Kerry Parker, the six year-old son of So You Think made giant strides last preparation and looks ready to pick up where he left off.

Considered unlucky when beaten half a length in finishing sixth to Mo’Unga in the Group I ATC Winx Stakes at his first run back from a spell, Think It Over made amends travelling smoothly for Nash Rawiller behind the leaders before giving chase to front runner Riodini.

He hunted him down with grim determination and under desperate urgings from Nash Rawiller poked his head in front on the line.

"It was a good, tough win. At the top of the straight I thought he was going to pick him (Riodini) up a lot better than he did, but credit to the inside horse who kept kicking," Parker said.

"My bloke had a little bit of help from Nash (Rawiller) and has stuck his head out on the line."

The Group I ATC George Main Stakes (1600m) at Randwick in two weeks time is next for Think It Over on a path that may lead to the Cox Plate.

A homebred for Bylong Park, Think It Over started his career with John Sargent, but has blossomed with maturity and now has the overall record of seven wins and 13 placings from 26 starts with prizemoney in excess of $1.6million.

Think It Over is the best of four winners from well bred unraced Zabeel mare Personal Service, a half-sister to Group I winners Universal Prince and Universal Queen as well as the dam of Group I ATC Coolmore Classic winner Krone.

Think It Over is the first stakes-winner of the new season for Coolmore based So You Think, who was Australia’s busiest sire in 2020 covering 261 mares and stands at a fee of $77,000 this spring.
