Reliable Man's Inspirational Girl to Make Melbourne Debut

Media Release - Friday August 27

Bob Peters is looking forward to racing at Caulfield on Saturday where his Group One winner Inspirational Girl will make her Melbourne debut in the Gr.1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield.

The well-known Perth owner-breeder set his sights on a Melbourne spring campaign after her victory in the Gr.1 Railway Stakes (1600m) at Ascot for former trainers Grant and Alana Williams.

The daughter of Westbury Stud's Reliable Man (GB) has subsequently joined the Barwon Heads-barn of Danny O’Brien for her Victoria campaign.

Peters holds reserved expectations heading into her first-up run against strong opposition.

"It's very hard to win first up in this type of company," Peters told TAB Radio.

"She's racing in a lot stronger company. She was running in ratings races just before the Railway.

"All her wins have been coming through the grades.

"She's really only won two stakes' races and one of them was a Railway

"She's up against horses who are Group 1 performers and won twice as much in stakes as her.

"It will give us a good guide to where we are at.

"Hopefully she gets better as the campaign goes along."

Peters said he has received nothing but positive feedback from O’Brien in the lead-up to Saturday.

"There's been nothing negative and all has been good," Peters said.

"He's very happy with her and she's developed a lot since her spell which she needed to do. She's ready to go to the races."

Inspirational Girl was purchased by John Chalmers Bloodstock out of Jamieson Park’s 2017 New Zealand Bloodstock Premier Yearling Sale draft for $190,000.
