Black Caviar's Daughter Invincible Caviar Breaks The Ice

Mark Smith - Sunday August 22

Third behind the exciting Frankel filly Argentia at her career debut at Flemington in June, Black Caviar's daughter Invincible Caviar kick-started her three-year-old campaign on a winning note over 1130m at Sale on Sunday.

Controlling the race from the front under Jamie Kah, the daughter of I Am Invincible needed little more than a flick of the reins to defeat the Xtravagant debutant Xtra Gear by a long-neck with a further length back to the $600,000 I Am Invincible colt Treporti in third.

"She (Kah) was pretty soft on her," winning trainer Peter Moody told Racing.com.

"She just did what she had to, and I asked her to do that knowing there was good improvement in her.

"It's always nice to win, and with a filly like her, it's important to get a win on the pedigree. It was just pleasing to see her get the job done softly like that.

"I've got a group of fillies like her and Gimmie Par and a few others at home that have been working nicely together, so that gives you a nice feel that when you come to a maiden, you should be running well."

Kah said she always felt she had the race under control.

"She was too strong. She didn't have an economical run just with a few other horses pestering her early," Kah said.

"I could feel them coming, but she was never in doubt in my mind, she was always going to win, and I didn't want to knock her around.

"She's going to win some better races off that. I think she will get better when she has one or two horses in front of her to follow, but she's got a lot of improvement there," Kah added.

Moody nominated the indicated $160,000 Listed Cap d'Antibes (1100m) at Flemington on September 11 as the immediate target.

Invincible Caviar is the third winner from four to race out of the undefeated champion Black Caviar.

Her first three foals are at stud.

The Exceed And Excel filly Oscietra has a 2yo colt and yearling colt by I Am Invincible and visited Churchill (IRE) last spring.

Black Caviar's Sebring colt Prince Of Caviar will cover his second book of mares at Riverbank farm this spring at a fee of $4,400.

The unraced Snitzel filly Out Of Caviar has a yearling filly by I Am Invincible and visited Toronado (IRE) last spring.

Ready For Caviar made two starts for one second but has not been seen out since finishing seventh at Pakenham a year ago.

Following Invincible Caviar is her 2yo brother I Am Caviar.

After missing to I Am Invincible in 2019, Black Caviar had a December covering to Written Tycoon last year.
