First Foal for Calyx

Tara Madgwick - Sunday August 22

The first son at stud of outstanding young European sire Kingman, brilliant speedster Calyx (GB) has his first Australian foals being born this spring and one of the first to arrive is a lovely filly at Willow Park Stud.

The filly is the second foal of Dream Genie (NZ), a regally bred mare from the family of star New Zealand Group I winning mares Gee I Jane, Katie Lee and Banchee.

“Dream Genie’s Calyx filly is outstanding, she has a real presence about her. She is a really good size with strength and a sprinters hip. I’m delighted with her,” said Jade Rossington, Willow Park Stud Manager.

A lightly raced, undefeated juvenile that won the Group II Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot, Calyx comes from a superb Juddmonte Farm female pedigree.

Calyx is Danehill free, making him an appealing option for breeders seeking precocious speed, but not keen to double up too closely to Danehill.

Calyx (GB) is a Premium stallion, click for more information.

Calyx stands at a fee of $13,750.
