Guineas Contenders Highlight Wednesday Meeting

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday August 17

The first two maiden events on the Kensington track at Randwick on Wednesday feature a raft of three year-olds entered for the big Guineas races in Melbourne.

Click to see all feature entries for Wendesday.

Race 1 for the fillies includes race favourite Yearning, the Arrowfield Stud bred Snitzel filly from dual Group I winner Rising Romance that showed good ability in her first preparation with a second on debut and then a fifth in the Group II ATC Percy Sykes Stakes.

Blue blood Frankel filly Von Trapp has been trialling super, but outside barrier may see her scratched, while another blueblood Mokolua has also shown at the trials she could be on the up this spring as she should be as a daughter of former star mare Dear Demi.

Both Rising Romance and Dear Demi won Oaks races as three year-olds so expect their daughters to be effective to a mile at the least.

Race 2 for the colts and geldings looks an open race and again a well bred unraced Frankel is right in the market in Money From the Sky, who has done enough in his trials to suggest potential.

A $200,000 Magic Millions purchase for Viribright Racing, Money From the Sky is a half-brother to French Group III winner Sky Kingdom from Starcraft’s New Zealand Group I winner We Can Say It Now, so he is certainly bred to be a classic prospect.

$200,000 MM purchase from the Canning Downs draft is Money From the Sky .
