New G2 Winner Pride of Dubai

Tara Madgwick - Saturday August 14

The Deauville meeting in France overnight produced a new stakes-winner for Pride of Dubai with three year-old gelding Dubai Honour capturing the Group II Prix Guillaume d’Ornano Haras du Logis Saint-Germain (2000m).

Trained by William Haggas, Dubai Honour was a last start winner at Newmarket after finishing fourth at Royal Ascot in the Brittania Stakes and rose to the challenge of his first try in Group company.

He took a split between runners to charge to the line and win by a length and three-quarters taking his overall record to three wins and a second from seven starts.

The Group II Prix Guillaume d’Ornano Haras du Logis Saint-Germain is the richest Group II race in Europe.

"He's a good horse and he won the Britannia Stakes on his side of the track and finished fourth," Haggas told Racing Post.

"Then he went to Newmarket and beat a good horse of Andrew Balding's [Foxes Tales], who then went out and won a Group 3 last weekend. I think this is a nice horse who doesn’t need too much racing.”

Purchased for 110,000 guineas at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale by Rabbah Bloodstock, Dubai Honour is the first winner for Mondelice, a half-sister by Montjeu to Frankel’s globetrotting Group III winner Last Kingdom (USA), who stands at Kooringal Stud in Australia this  spring.

Dubai Honour is the 11th stakes-winner for Street Cry’s dual Group I winning son Pride of Dubai, who stands at Coolmore this spring at a fee of $22,000. His smart mare Bella Nipotina was a winner at Caulfield on Saturday and you can read about her here.
