Well supported by punters, The Duke of Dubai led all the way for Jordan Childs and although tiring on the line had enough left to win the 1113m maiden by a long neck.

A $275,000 NZB Book 1 purchase for Paul Moroney Bloodstock / Ballymore Stables NZ from the Woburn Farm draft, The Duke of Dubai is a half-brother to Group III placed Swords Drawn and is the fifth winner from well bred Zabeel mare Sarvon.

The Duke of Dubai was bred by New Zealand breeder Bob Emery, who also bred and raced his dam Sarvon, a half-sister to Group I winner Onemorenomore from Group II winner Palia.

The family has also produced Group I winners Casino Prince, Prince Fawaz and Green Birdie, so The Duke of Dubai lacks for nothing on the score of pedigree.

The Duke of Dubai looks a promising talent for Pride of Dubai, who covered his biggest ever book of 202 mares last spring so has plenty of quality offspring in the pipeline and is well priced this spring at Coolmore at a fee of just $22,000.
