American Pharoah Filly Stars at Saratoga

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday August 10

Justify (USA) was not the only Triple Crown winning sire making an impression on day one of the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Yearling Sale.

Triple Crown winner American Pharoah made his mark late on the first day when a full sister to his Group II Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint winner Four Wheel Drive was the third most expensive filly of the session when fetching $700,000 ($A954,748).

$700,000 American Pharoah filly from Funfair.

Sold to Red Bud LLC from Paramount Sales, the filly bred by Glenvale Stud is also a half-sister to Saturday’s Listed Kentucky Downs TVG Preview Turf Sprint Stakes winner Born Great.

The three stakes-winners are out of remarkable producer and stakes winner Funfair, who has the perfect record of three winners from three to race.

Funfair has a Justify colt to follow and is now back in foal to American Pharoah.

American Pharoah’s only other yearling sold on day one was a $300,000 ($A409,178) colt from Randie’s Legend that was bought by MV Magnier from Ballysax Bloodstock as agent for HNR Nothhaft Horse Racing.

American Pharoah is a Premium stallion, click for more information.

American Pharoah is headed back to Australia this spring at a fee of $95,000 with his oldest Australian progeny now three year-olds.
