Ancient Girl Lets Loose at Ballarat

Highly regarded filly Ancient Girl (Turn Me Loose), who holds a nomination for the Gr.1 Thousand Guineas at Caulfield in early October, made a winning debut at Ballarat today.

Coming from off the pace with a powerful finish, Ancient Girl gathered in her opposition to win going away by ¾ length over the 1200m journey, with the manner of her victory suggesting the 1600m of the Gr.1 Thousand Guineas will hold no fears for the good looking daughter of Turn Me Loose (Iffraaj).

Ancient Girl was a $150,000 Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale purchase by McDonald Racing from the draft of Windsor Park Stud, who stand her promising young sire Turn Me Loose. The cracking filly was bred by former team members Jason Thomasen and David Morris.

Champion Sprinter/Miler Turn Me Loose has a number of other exciting first-crop 3YO’s ready to race in the new season including unbeaten 2YO stakes winner Turn The Ace and impressive triallist Bifrost, who recently arrived in Australia from New Zealand to begin his Spring campaign aimed at the Gr.1 Caulfield Guineas.
 
Other 3YO’s by the triple Gr.1 winning son of Iffraaj commanding attention in the new season will include Australian stakes performed 2YO Verbek and progressive galloper Me Liberez.
