Frankel G1 Winning Run Continues

Tara Madgwick - Sunday August 8

2021 is delivering a new benchmark of success for Juddmonte Farm’s champion sire Frankel and he added another new Group I winner overnight with four year-old mare Alpinista winning the Group I Grosser Preis Von Berlin (1m4f).

Trained by Sir Mark Prescott, Alpinista was a last start winner of the Group II Lancashire Oaks at Haydock and took another step forward when scoring a resounding two and three-quarter length wink her fifth success from 10 starts.

A homebred for Kirsten Rausing’s Lanwades Stud, Alpinista is the first winner for stakes-winning Hernando mare Alwilda, a daughter of triple Group I winner Albonova.

This female family has been carefully nurtured at Lanwades Stud over four generations delivering  countless stakes-winners.

Alpinista is the 18th Group I winner for Frankel and is his sixth Group I winner in 2021 joining Adayar, Hurricane Lane, Snow Lantern and the Australian trained Hungry Heart and Converge.
