Breednet Launches Premium Stallion Directory

Tara Madgwick - Thursday August 5

Breednet has long been the Australasian thoroughbred industry’s premier resource for cutting edge analysis, statistics and news.

And, while one of the many features on Breednet is a detailed listing of ALL stallions standing in Australia and New Zealand, Breednet is taking it a step further in 2021 through the launch of its Premium Stallion Directory.

Attracting stallions at all price points, the Premium directory already includes the rosters from Coolmore, Widden Stud (NSW & Victoria), Rosemont, Aquis, Leneva, Glen Eden, Eureka Stud, Wyndholm Park, Riverbank Farm, Woodside Park, Oaklands Stud, Ryland Thoroughbreds, Telemon and Bombora Downs with several more due to come on board this season.

Aside from a comprehensive listing for each premium stallion – including progeny, pedigree, upcoming runners, recent results, sales information and nicks – stud farms will also have the facility to highlight other information about a stallion – be it additional photos, videos or any other multi-media.

Rosemont principal, Anthony Mithen, was the first to jump on board with the new concept.

“I’ve long advocated for a feature-laden online stallion directory which not only provides farms with the ability to display a far greater range of assets, but MOST importantly, the information is right up to date,” Mithen enthuses. “There’s nothing quite like the ‘feel’ of a paper based directory – I’ve got shelves full of them – but ultimately they are out of date before they even get printed!

“Take our stallion Shamus Award for instance. He’s had three Group 1 winners this season in Media Award, Mr Quickie and Duais, with the latter’s Queensland Oaks victory missing the print deadline.

“Now, Group 1 winners are a problem we’d all like to have and they generate plenty of publicity on their own, but in the first three weeks of July – normally a fairly quiet month – Shamus Award has had a dozen or so winners and a stakes horse in True Detective. And here’s the thing, city winners like Worsfold, Great Diviner and Levi’s Storm had their results posted on the premium pages within 30 minutes of the race. Probably even quicker than that.

“And a morning doesn’t go past where I don’t quickly check in to see what runners Shamus has over the next few days.

“Our new bloke, Hanseatic, doesn’t have runners yet but instead of the single photo you get in a printed directory, Rosemont has the opportunity to put up any number of photos, videos, news stories, advertising … not to mention next year it will allow us to post pics/videos of his first foals.”
