Juvenile Trial Watch – Warwick Farm

Tara Madgwick - Friday July 23

There were five heats won by two year-olds at the Warwick Farm barrier trials on Friday and one of those winners was a filly from one of John Singleton’s very best mares.

Dear Demi was a classy two year-old that blossomed at three to win the Group I VRC Oaks and finish second in the Group I Australian Oaks before returning at four to place in the Caulfield Cup and Mackinnon Stakes.

Dear Demi won over $2.1million in prizemoney - image Steve Hart.

The daughter of Dehere (USA) retired to stud in 2015 and her second living foal is Redoute’s Choice filly Mokulua, who won the last heat this morning.

Trained by Clarry Conners as was her famous mum, Mokolua is not a big filly, but she showed good muster from an inside gate to hold the fence and was always under a hold winning the 740m gallop by the best part of a length.

Mokulua had one start last time in work where she finished second in a very strong maiden at Wyong splitting two sons of Maurice (Jpn) in Conrad and Maurice’s Medad and has obviously made some good progress since then.

Dear Demi was sent to the Northern Hemisphere in 2019 after missing to Redoute’s Choice and has a soon to be yearling colt by Frankel and is now in foal to Pierro.
