Five Winners for Ribchester

Four-time G1 winner and two-time European Champion Miler RIBCHESTER (IRE) (Iffraaj) has made a strong start with his first Northern Hemisphere crop, adding another winner over the weekend to bring his current tally to five.

A late Summer/early Autumn 2YO himself, RIBCHESTER started three times in his juvenile season finishing second on debut, runner-up in the G2 Gimcrack Stakes before landing the G2 Mill Reef Stakes to end his 2YO season.

RIBCHESTER’s five winners include three on debut and all have won in impressive fashion.  You can view the races by clicking the links below.

Ruthin – Keeneland 22nd April

Flaming Rib – Nottingham 7th May

Gisburn – Newbury 14th May

Nurseclaire – Carlisle 8th July

Exminster – Redcar 18th July

RIBCHESTER’s yearlings have sold well in both hemispheres.  He was the first season sire with the highest priced yearling in Europe in 2020, 350,000 guineashigher than ALMANZOR – and backed this up earlier this year with a £590,000 filly at the Arqana 2YO sale.  His yearlings at Karaka sold for $230,000 and $130,000 and, he has a majority of his first two Australasian crops, based in Australia.

Mark Chitty says, “We couldn’t be happier with the start RIBCHESTER’s 2YO’s have made up North and to be fair, they have probably come out a little earlier in the season than we would have expected given he was more an Autumn 2YO himself.

“It would be nice to think that he can have a strong Summer and Autumn up there – the word certainly suggests he will – and can get off to a nice start with his first Southern Hemisphere crop in the new season.”

RIBCHESTER returns to Haunui Farm in early August and will stand at a fee of $15,000 + GST.

Mark continues, “We know it is very competitive in the stallion market and breeders are faced with some difficult mating decisions, but all I can say is this:

RIBCHESTER is by far and away, the highest performed racehorse we have stood at Haunui.  His four G1’s, Champion Miler status and Timeform rating of 129 is testament to that fact.

“He is IFFRAAJ’s best son – a sire line we know works here.

“He has progeny in the best stables worldwide and we already know they can run.

“And at a fee of $15,000 + GST, we believe there is no better value stallion in the country given his credentials.”
