20th Winner for Capitalist

Tara Madgwick - Monday July 19

Newgate Farm’s Capitalist posted his 20th first crop winner at Nowra on Monday with Gary Portelli and the Elite Thoroughbreds owners celebrating a well deserved victory for Feudalist.

Fourth and second at his two previous starts, Feudalist was race fit to handle 1400m on a heavy track and hit the line hard for Brodie Loy to win by three-quarters of a length.

An $80,000 Inglis Classic purchase for Elite Thoroughbreds from the Sledmere Stud draft, Feudalist is a half-brother to Group III winner and sire Stryker as well as three other stakes-placed horses.

Bred by Jennifer Mackay, he is the seventh winner from eight foals to race from terrific producer Laetitia, who has a weanling colt by Russian Revolution and was covered again by Capitalist last year.

Feudalist is the 20th winner for Capitalist (one in NZ) from 62 runners that include four stakes-winners and an additional seven stakes horses headed by his Group I winner Captivant.

Capitalist has covered over 900 mares in his first four seasons and has had a fee increase this spring rising to $99,000 on the back of stellar results not only on the track, but also in the sale ring.

Capitalist celebrated his 20th first crop winner on Monday!

Capitalist had three runners in last year’s Golden Slipper and has 99 entries for the 2022 edition including his two highest priced colts sold this year from Bonnie Mac and Miss Interiors that both fetched $1,050,000.
