A solid third at his career debut over 1000m at Muswellbrook on July 2, Daichi appreciated the 1200m of the colts and geldings maiden on a heavy track at Gosford on Thursday, to graduate at his second attempt and ring up winner number eight for Maurice (JPN).

Ridden by Jason Collett for Peter and Paul Snowden, the Triple Crown Syndications colour-bearer kept up a relentless gallop to defeat the Pierro colt spitfire by a length with the Medaglia D'Oro (USA) colt Retrieval a further two lengths back in third.

A $105,000 pinhook by Randwick Bloodstock Agency (FBAA) / Rushton Park out of the Fairview Park Stud at the 2019 Inglis Australian Weanling Sale, Daichi made $110,000 when re-offered at the 2020 Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Bred by Chris Lawlor, the son of Maurice (JPN) is the first winner, from two to race out of the unraced Manhattan Rain mare Ausbred Friend.

A daughter of the Listed Illawarra TC Keith F Nolan Classic winner Ponte Piccolo (Volksraad), Ausbred Friend is a half-sister to the Hong Kong legend Able Friend (Shamardal).

Ausbred Friend has a yearling All Too Hard colt and was covered last spring by Alabama Express.

Maurice returns to Arrowfield Stud this spring following a years absence, with a fee of $44,000.
