The wrong horse ran in a race at Remington Park in North America at the weekend and won.

The four-year-old gelding Collateral Kitten was listed as running in the fifth race at the Oklahoma track however, it was six-year-old mare Onemorefastdance that took part and won by 2 1/2-lengths as the even money favourite.

Both are bay and trained by Karl Broberg, Collateral Kitten with a narrow white blaze while Onemorefastdance has only a small star on her forehead.

Racetracks have official horse identifiers matching lip tattoos to registration papers but reports indicate the Remington Park regular identifier was not on duty Saturday night.

Broberg told the Paulick Report he was embarrassed by the error, brought to light on Sunday by the breeder of Onemorefastdance.

"There was an egregious mistake and I just can't talk about it further," Broberg said.

"Obviously it is very embarrassing. I've already talked to the owners that were involved.

"My intentions are to make the purse right with them. We'll have to see how it plays out from there."
