One to Watch -Hawkesbury

Tara Madgwick - Thursday July 1

Highlighted in a recent Breednet ‘Juvenile Trial Watch’ story the half-sister to brilliant stakes-winning filly Isotope made a winning debut at Hawkesbury on Thursday becoming the ninth winner for Winning Rupert.

Trained by Bjorn Bake, as were both her sire and her dam, Rupertaar gave notice of good things to come when winning a recent Rosehill trial by more than five lengths.

Ridden by Rachel King, Rupertaar did everything right just as she did in her trial, powering forward from an inside gate to lead for Rachel King, before kicking away to win by three and a half lengths.

A $90,000 Magic Millions purchase for Darby Racing/De Burgh Equine from the Daandine Stud draft, Rupertaar is a half-sister to brilliant stakes-winner Isotope and is the second foal of winning Choisir mare Great Dansaar, whose yearling colt by Sebring sold for $450,000 at Magic Millions this year.

Darby Racing have already enjoyed success with this family having raced Great Dansaar’s half-sister Yankee Rose, a dual Group I winner of over $2million in prizemoney.

The family is a very good one having also produced Group I New Zealand Derby winner Redoute’s Dancer and this season’s Group III winning 3YO filly Miravalle.

Great Dansaar had a filly by Spirit of Boom last spring and is back in foal to Isotope’s sire Deep Field.

Great Dansaar has been a great investment for Daandine Stud having been purchased at the 2016 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale in conjunction with Boomer Bloodstock for $80,000 with her first three foals selling for over $700,000!

Winning Rupert

Rupertaar looks a bright prospect for Written Tycoon’s brilliant son Winning Rupert, who stands at Newgate Farm this spring at a fee of $11,000.
