Metro Winner for Adelaide

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday June 30

Cox Plate winner Adelaide (IRE) is not the highest profile sire on the Coolmore roster, but he does get his winners and progressive mare Duchess Adele upped the ante at Warwick Farm on Wednesday to post her first metropolitan success.

Trained by Matt Dunn, having been previously prepared by the suspended David Pfeiffer, Duchess Adele finished second at her two previous starts for her new trainer in town and broke through in the Benchmark 72 event over 1600m.

The talented grey made light of the heavy ground to win by three-quarters of a length taking her overall record to four wins and five placings from 17 starts with prizemoney in excess of $100,000.

A $70,000 Inglis Premier Book 2 purchase for Anderson Racing from the Shadow Hill Thoroughbreds draft, Duchess Adele is the fourth winner from winning Redoute’s Choice mare Renaka, who comes from a Black Type North American family.

A dual Group I winning son of Galileo, Adelaide is a proven Group I sire of quality mare Funstar and sits just outside the Top 10 Australian Third Crop Sires List by earnings with 30 winners from 66 runners headed by Funstar, stakes-placed Queen Adele and eight other metropolitan winners.

Adelaide

Adelaide stands at the bargain fee of $5,500 this year, which gives you a lot of bang for your buck.
