Mongolian Khan 3YO Impresses

Media Release - Tuesday June 29

Mongolian Khan three-year-old Bankers Choice looked a special talent in the making following the stunning manner in which he continued on his winning way at Tauranga at the weekend.

Always held in high regard by his connections, favourite Bankers Choice quickened from last position in the 1400m event to loop the field and win easing down by more than 7 lengths.

Banker's Choice looks a bright prospect for Mongolian Khan.

The strapping son of champion racehorse and back-to-back Horse Of The Year Mongolian Khan had been an impressive winner at his previous start at Matamata when charging home from the rear of the field to win easily.

Owned and raced by his breeders Ross and Corrine Kearney, Bankers Choice is now maturing into his substantial frame, delivering on the promise he showed when scoring a debut trial win as a 2YO late last season.

Trainer Stephen Marsh was effusive in his praise:
“That was just a super win, very impressive and totally against how the races had been run earlier in the day,” Marsh said.

“Michael (jockey Michael McNab) said he traveled so easily and when he gave him a half slap he just took off and buried them.

“He has had a big rap on him from day one but it has taken a little while for things to click.

“The phone has run hot since he won and I expect his owners will have a big decision to make."

Mongolian Khan

With his oldest progeny 3YO’s, Mongolian Khan has a number of impressive winners, notable among them being Supreme Khan, winner of three of his six starts starts to date.
Australian stakes performer My Squeeze Louise is one of a number of successful Australian 3YO’s sired by the dual Derby winning sire this season with this list also including Made By Khan, Breeze ‘n’ Luna and Suppression.

We are really excited about the potential of Mongolian Khan's progeny like Bankers Choice, he is a young sire leaving impressive types who are improving with maturity. He has had great support year in, year out and you can breed to him at attractive fee this season.
