Invincible Charge to a New Australian Record

Tara Madgwick - Monday June 28

Yarraman Park’s super sire I Am Invincible is powering towards his third consecutive title as Australia’s most successful sire of winners and at some point in the next 10 days is likely to pass the phenomenal milestone of 200 individual Aussie winners for the season.

I Am Invincible is the best source of winners in Australia.
I Am Invincible set a record for the number of individual Australian winners by a sire for a season in 2018/2019 when he posted 184 winners and last season backed up with 183.

This year the powerhouse son of Invincible Spirit has surged straight past his old record mark and is currently on 195 winners with the promise of hitting 200 winners in the very near future.

His seasonal winners to runners strike rate of 56.7% explains his incredible success in delivering on the first and most important duty of any commercial sire and that is to produce sound tractable racehorses capable of winning multiple races at the level of their ability.

Not every I Am Invincible will be a stakes performer, but the vast majority will win a race somewhere with his overall lifetime winner to runner strike rate being nearly 79% .

It has been well documented that I Am Invincible started his career at a fee of $11,000 and stayed at that price for his first four seasons and then had a year at $27,500 before being bumped up significantly to $55,000.

So the big question is are his stats for that first crop of horses conceived at $11,000 from some fairly pedestrian mares dramatically different to those of the horses born in crop six at a fee of $55,000 that are about to turn five.

Crop 1 produced two Group I winners in Voodoo Lad and Brazen Beau, who remains the best colt ever sired by I Am Invincible.

Crop 6 has so far produced just the one Group I winner in Loving Gaby and there is another horse in the crop that may yet win a Group I in Libertini, who undoubtedly has Group I ability.

Better quality mares do make a massive difference in the sale ring, but in terms of racetrack results in the case of I Am Invincible, the jury is out.
