Is This Your Price Point? $16,500 UNPROVEN

Tara Madgwick - Monday June 28

The Breednet Price Point stories have been super popular and are now archived on the site, so will remain a great source of information and reference as we move towards the breeding season and with 22 horses priced at $16,500 there is huge competition in this sector so we have split the group into PROVEN and UNPROVEN.

As we slide below the $22,000 point, let’s not forget that the three stallions topping the current Australian General Sires List by earnings all started their stud careers at fees below $20,000.

Front runner Written Tycoon went to stud as a Group II winner at a fee of $8,250, Not a Single Doubt was a Listed winner priced at $13,750 and I Am Invincible was a Group III winner starting off at $11,000.

That trio now feature in the top Price Point story, upwards of $110,000!

Previously we have looked at $17,250 - $19,800 – click to read.

Click to visit the fully interactive Breednet Sire Directory, sort them how you want to see them.

D'Argento covered 152 mares last spring.

Bowness Stud’s dashing grey So You Think stallion D’Argento was a two time winner at two and at three won the Group I ATC Rosehill Guineas (2000m). Also second in the Group I ATC Epsom Handicap at four, he covered 152 mares last spring.

Cosmic Force covered 146 mares last spring.

Newgate Farm’s Cosmic Force won the Group III ATC Pago Pago Stakes at two (1200m) and the Group II ATC Roman Consul Stakes (1200m) at three. The first son of Deep Field to go to stud, Cosmic Force covered 146 mares last spring.

Third Season

Only two contenders and both are dual Group I winning sprinters in Brave Smash (Jpn) and Harry Angel (IRE), who come from very different sirelines. Brave Smash won his Group I sprints in Australia, while Harry Angel was rated the World Champion Sprinter as a three year-old.

Brave Smash is by Tosen Phantom, who is a grand-son of Sunday Silence, while Harry Angel is by Acclamation’s best son Dark Angel, who featured prominently at the recent Royal Ascot meeting.
