Third SW This Week for American Pharoah

Tara Madgwick - Friday June 25

Triple Crown hero American Pharoah has been in hot form in the Northern Hemisphere this week posting his third new stakes-winner since last Saturday when progressive gelding King of Miami took out the $150,000 Mystic Lake Derby (1m).

Trained by Larry Rivelli, King of Miami prevailed to win by a head in a thrilling finish taking his overall record to two wins and a second from five starts with prizemoney just shy of $160,000.

King of Miami was bred by Wesley Ward and started his career for the Royal Ascot winning trainer before being sold privately to Patricia’s Hope LLC.

He is the first winner for Bombo Genesis who also has a two year-old filly by American Pharoah called Dream Fly that has been placed this year.

A winning half-sister to Group II winner Bound for Nowhere, Bombo Genesis comes from the family of champion sprinter Midnight Lute.

King of Miami is the 19th stakes-winner for American Pharoah and is his third this week joining Willow and Fi Fi Pharoah.

American Pharoah returns to Coolmore Australia this spring at a fee of $49,500.
