Palentino's Palencia goes Three for Three

Mark Smith - Saturday June 12

Widden Studs dual Group I winner Palentino has had just a handful of runners to date, but he has a wonderful representative in Palencia who kept his record at a perfect three for three with his hard-fought win in Saturday’s $100,000 Cluden Park Classic (1200m) at Townsville.

With regular rider Graham Kliese in the saddle, the Roy Chillemi trained gelding defeated the Outreach gelding Koheeto by  a short-half-head with the Better Than Ready filly Kashkar a short-head back in third.

Bred by Goldstar Thoroughbreds, Palencia was a $62,500 Magic Millions Gold Coast March Yearling Sale purchase for Group I Pty Ltd from the Lyndhurst Stud Farm draft.

He is one of five winners from good producer Dynamic Lass, a half-sister by Redoute’s Choice to the dam of Group III ATC PJ Bell Stakes winner Matchmaker.

Paul Nolan Jnr purchased a Better Than Ready colt out of Dynamic Lass for $22,000 at the 2021 Gold Coast March Yearling Sale.

A striking son of Teofilo, Palentino stands at Widden Stud Victoria this spring at a fee of $11,000.
