First Winner for Golden Slipper Heroine Mossfun

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday June 9

Brilliant filly Mossfun won the 2014 Golden Slipper for Emirates Park and she produced her first winner for them overnight in the UK when two year-old Frankel filly Sadmah made a winning debut at Haydock.

Trained by Kevin Ryan and ridden by Kevin Stott, she raced on the pace and showed plenty of natural talent to win the six furlong contest by three-quarters of a length despite racing a little greenly.

“I'm delighted with that. Sadmah is a filly that had been showing the right signs at home but it's the first day at school and she was in the stalls a long time,” said assistant trainer, Adam Ryan.

“She was a little bit outpaced when they quickened things up but that's to be expected first time out and she stayed on strongly and hit the line well.

“It's our first winner for Emirates Park and I hope she has a bright future.”

A Listed race may well be the next test for Sadmah, but for now she’s collected a nice breeder’s bonus for Emirates Park!

Mossfun was bought by Emirates Park at 2013 Inglis Easter out of the Fairview Park draft for just $85,000 from Book 2 and won over $2.5 million in prizemoney.

She went to stud first in Australia producing a Fastnet Rock filly, Tumooh, that was retired unraced and is now in foal to I Am Invincible.

Then sent to the Northern Hemisphere, Mossfun has a three year-old Frankel colt called Dajraan that has been placed once in five starts and now Sadmah, who becomes her first winner.

Mossfun is now back in Australia and had a filly by I Am Invincible last spring and is back in foal to him again.
