Aussie Stakes Horse for Turn Me Loose

Media Release - Tuesday June 8

Exciting 2YO Verbek (Turn Me Loose) secured black-type at just his fourth start and looked a promising 3YO prospect when filling the runnerup position in the Listed The Phoenix Stakes in Brisbane at the weekend.

The improving son of Champion Sprinter/Miler Turn Me Loose (Iffraaj) trained by Robert & Luke Price is thriving with racing and his connections have earmarked another upcoming stakes race opportunity for Verbek in the Listed Tattersall’s Life Member Stakes over 1800m in Brisbane on June 26th.

Turn Me Loose

Verbek is the only horse the Price’s have in their stable by Windsor Park Stud’s triple Group One winner Turn Me Loose and they have been impressed with what they have seen so far.

“I am sure we are going to be looking for more of them when the sales come around again next year,” said Robert Price.

“I have got nothing but good things to say about the breed. He is a promising stallion and I definitely think he will make it.”

Verbek is the second stakes horse from the first crop of Turn Me Loose following on from the recent victory of the Baker/Forsman trained unbeaten 2YO Turn The Ace in the Listed Waikato Equine Veterinary Centre Stakes at Te Rapa last month.

Turn The Ace is now in the spelling paddock ahead of some big Spring racing assignments.

“In his stakes win he showed plenty of guts and reminded me of his old man so much with the attitude and determination he displayed”, said Forsman.

"We have quite a few by Turn Me Loose in the stable and I think he will definitely make it as a stallion on what they are showing us at home.”

On Bail, another son of Turn Me Loose, also looked a smart 3YO prospect in the making when finishing an unlucky fourth on debut at Newcastle in NSW at the weekend.

A $160,000 Karaka sales purchase for DGR Thoroughbred Services from the draft of Windsor Park Stud, the Peter & Paul Snowden trained runner was held up at vital stages in the home straight before finishing powerfully into fourth position.
