G1 Mares for G1 Stallions

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday May 25

Of the Top 10 stallions on the Australian general sires list by earnings, eight were active last season, so we thought we’d take a look and see just how many Group I winners and producers were covered by the stallions actually out there doing the best job in delivering winners and importantly stakes-winners for their supporters.

Not a Single Doubt has been pensioned and Sebring has passed away leaving the eight stallions listed in the table below , plus one that we have added in that is outside the Top 10 sires, but the quality of mares he covered was extraordinary and that was Dundeel.

One of those Group I winning mares covered by Dundeel last spring was Qafila, who sold for $2million at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale on Tuesday to be the most expensive mare offered in foal.

Yarraman Park's champion sire I Am Invincible - click to see his stallion page.

Heading the list is Australia's most expensive sire I Am Invincible, whow as the top choice for owners of Group I winners and producers.

Footnote: There may be the odd double up with a Group I winner also a Group I dam. Also no note has been taken of mares that have missed and may have then been also covered by a different sire so may appear twice and ultimately not be in foal at all.
