Grenville Stud is pleased to announce that we will again be standing Zululand, Stratosphere and Mawingo this upcoming breeding season.

2021 Service Fees
Zululand - $5,000 + GST
Stratosphere - $4,000 + GST
Mawingo - $2,500 + GST


Zululand stole the limelight at the 2021 Magic Millions Tasmanian Yearling Sale where his yearlings averaged over $42k (8.4 x service fee) with yearlings selling for $100k, $100k, $75k, $70k. Zululand's progeny were purchased by some of the best judges in the country including Lindsay Park Racing, McEvoy Mitchell Racing, Damon Gabbedy, Gordon Richards and John Foote just to name a few of the interstate purchasers.

Zululand

Zululand provides breeders with what the Australian market wants. He was an exceptional 2YO winning the Group 2 VRC Sires Produce Stakes and then went on to run second in the Group 1 ATC Champagne Stakes.

Zululand is by Fastnet Rock who is the proven sire of sires in Australia with 7 of his sons already siring Group 1 winners. Zululand comes from an exceptional female family being out of the Group 2 winning mare Dream Play who is a half-sister to the Group 1 winner Diplomat Lady.

So sought after is this family that Zululand's yearling half-brother by Written Tycoon made $1.1m at this years Inglis Easter Yearling Sale. On the back of Zululand's first crop being so eye catching and well sought after in the sale ring we have been overwhelmed by the bookings we have already received for Zululand for the 2021 breeding season.

Stratosphere - the striking son of champion sire Snitzel will be standing his third season at Grenville after being very popular in his first two seasons at stud and his fee will remain unchanged at $4,000 + GST. Stratosphere is by 4 times champion sire Snitzel who continues to be the hottest sire in the country with his yearlings topping both the Magic Millions and Inglis Easter Yearling Sales this year.

Stratosphere had blistering speed running second beaten by the narrowest of margins at his only start in the Group 3 Canonbury Stakes where he unfortunately sustained a career ending injury.

Trainer Peter Snowden had a very high opinion of Stratosphere and felt he had the ability to be a top class galloper. “He had precocious speed and untapped ability and showed that at his first start when running second even though he was very inexperienced. He was a genuine Group 1 horse and we felt he was the best 2YO we had that season.”

We are delighted with the first foals by Stratosphere, just like Zululand he has really stamped his progeny and left some outstanding types. Graeme McCulloch stated "We are extremely fortunate to have stallions like Zululand and Stratosphere who stamp their progeny and leave such exceptional types. Zululand was a $1.50m yearling and Stratosphere was a $925k yearling and they are passing on their athleticism and good looks to their progeny."

Mawingo will be standing the upcoming season for $2,500 + GST. From a very limited number of matings Mawingo continues to produce winners locally with his progeny being headlined by the ever consistent Soldier of Love who is a multiple Sydney city winner.
